I bought this a few months back or so and have been keeping it in my car in case of emergencies and ive taken it hiking a few times and up until today didnt need to use it. Fallen tree in the road on the way to work that needed some chopping and this blade did surprisingly well. The handle wrap came off pretty quickly but i just rewrapped it and kept going and finished quickly without so much as a dent in the blade. Well worth the money imo

This sword is what you need if your putting together stealth fully functional gear. The none reflective black is just that the tanto styled tips do what they are meant to the blade is a beast I suggest getting two of them easy to duel light fast stronge this is a sword ready to take out the toughest of targets without a scratch to the blade. I have put together a set of non reflective gear Honshu stars the Spartan throwing dagger which I'll find a chain to put the dagger on two timber wolf swords coming soon a tanto spear for when you need to reach out an touch faces next on the list is a clay tempered T10 high carbon katana then Honshu large throwing stars. If your looking to put your gear together BudK is for sure a great place to gather some of those need to have weapons trust worthy helpful with fast shipping if you pay that little price more.

I bought this item through amazon along with a few other fixed blade knives, sadly I ended up returning some of the other knives because they had faults in the blade (these were not $20 dollar knives either) I do not generally buy blades such as this one, but it is actually very good for the price and is thick enough for my uses, a nice machete with looks for cheap, a win win

Jun 18, 2019

We decided to test how sturdy it was.... Its phenomenal. Cut through a replica sword, stuck it through a van door soooo lethality I give it a perfect 10

May 15, 2019

I have a nice collection of swords, I needed a strong short sword with a strong sheath to attach to my backpack for hunting. This little bugger fit the bill perfectly. It is strong and versatile, and I'm sure if needed will kill and attacking coyote without problem.

Dec 12, 2018

I love the quality of this sword... I can tell it should do fine in the brush.. Everything is intact and working fine ... The edge could use a little sharpening but how sharp should a bush sword be anyway? Obviously this isn't made for delicate cuts... You can tell it's handmade, by some of the very small flaws in the hollow ground blade... Like anything hand made, there will be very small imperfections.. It's a sure sign of it's authenticity!!! THANKS BUDK!!!!
Nov 15, 2018

I have had my blade since 2010...thats 8 going on nearly 9 years and it has been nothing but amazing! You will not, and i repeat, will not find a better blade for the value! I have used my sword in all environments from the swamps of Florida to the deserts of Arizona and to the mountains of Washington. This blade has been nothing but amazing and outside of a little sharpening when I got it those years ago it is perfect. Thank you BudK!
Sep 23, 2018

Out of the box it had a decent edge, a little sharpening it is now razor sharp. I replaced the cord with 550 Paracord and is ready for work. Thank you again BudK!
Sep 19, 2018

Not razor sharp but definitely sharp enough to get most jobs done. It's full tang, looks great and handles well. Did a little wood chopping with no issues. The sheath and strap work well. This is a great buy.
Dec 29, 2017

It is really good, awesome and all, but the handle is the only problem. The handle is just a piece of rope, but, the quality of the sword is amazing. With a little bit of sharpening and a new handle, this sword will be my #1 pick for a zombie apocalypse.
Jul 07, 2017

I bought a couple of these years ago. I put one of them through hell and back- I use it for fun, for landscaping, for woodworking- etc. I've cleaved a 4" branch in a swing and sliced fabric with it. She holds an edge well but you do need to maintain it. There isn't much of anything I haven't subjected the blade to, and it's still in one piece and the worst notch (from slamming it through a box spring and catching the springs) buffed out nicely. Honestly, if mine broke and I was told a replacement would be $50, I'd pay it.
Jun 14, 2017

First off, price is a steal, you guys could go about 30$ and sell just as good. I didnt buy to chop wood, im working on a ninja outfit, and with the hard sheath and backstrap, its too perfect. Sharpness is not razor but good enough to get the job done. Solid blade, dont see it bending or breaking anytime soon. Fantastic Buy!
Feb 18, 2017

It's not long so don't think it will be. Comparable to a large machete in length, which is exactly what I wanted. I put an edge I wanted on it and it works very well for my needs. It's attached vertically for a right hand draw on my TAC vest. Easily goes back into scabbard. Scabbard not too bad, it's not bullet proof but it works well. Good purchase and I'm happy with it.
Feb 02, 2017

For the price of the blade i was a little concerned that i was going to get a 22" pocket knife. But the sword is almost perfect. Just the right size for QUICK draw, strong sheath, has the three great qualities of the sword: piercing, slashing, and skull bashing. The stainless steel is thick enough to sharpen it better. (P.S. don't advertise it if it is not true, it is not sharp as a razor) but it can be. I did like the paracord handle though cause it can be easily replace with bone or wood handle. Just shape it the way you want it. And apply epoxy to make it permanent. Easy fix. I say for $20 you not going to find a better blade....
Dec 17, 2016

The sheath is very nice and hard to brake, the sword is a good not great but good. Its a little small but still good for chopping over all a good buy
Dec 05, 2016

I got this as an early x-mas gift and absolutely love it its perfect size for me and the sheath is great
Nov 22, 2016

I've had mine for a couple of months now and it's very solid, I've hit a steel pole and it didn't damage the blade not one bit. But the famous problem is its grip. It constantly shifts up and down and even can come loose in one good swing. My advice: Take off the grip, buy some athletic tape and penta-wrap it to perfection.
Nov 21, 2016

This sword is the first thing that I have ever bought off of budk and it is beast the only thing wrong with it was the nylon handle it came off after about 5 swings but other than that it was OK.
Nov 12, 2016

At first, I was reluctant to purchase this blade, leery that the price was reflective of the quality. I was truly hoping to find a short katana style sword to train with for close quarter combat style fighting. Although I like the size and looks of this blade, I was concerned of those flimsy "toy blades" that bend the first time you try to cut anything other than paper. After reading some of the reviews and at $19.99 I figured it was worth a go, so I ordered two of them. MAN! was I pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. These blades are not works of art but they are thick and sturdy and just what I was hoping for. They came with a decent edge on them, but I enjoyed the task of honing the edges a bit more and feeling the weight of the blades in my hands. I was not overly impressed with the quality of the cord grips -- they were wrapped in a neat pattern but not wrapped tight enough to endure much of a workout. However, I will enjoy customizing a grip more to my liking when these fail. Even at the original $41 these blades are worth the money. At $20, they are a steal. Can't wait to start working with these blades.
Oct 14, 2016

Quite a good blade, but I would prefer it to be sharper than just the ground edge...I'll be putting a right proper edge on it. Good weight, good feel, especially with a back draw. I would like to know if there is a left-handed scabbard compatible with this sword?
Oct 11, 2016

Sword came well made and my only complaint if any is it not sharp at all. Great sheath ,choped right thru a piece of tree and sword was unfazed. Love this sword! Thanks budk
Oct 09, 2016

This is one of the best purchases i made and i don't what anyone says this baby is worth every penny and more who cares about the wrapping on the Paracord make your own for 20 bucks this baby chop and if you know how to sharpen your going to love it and i like the sheath that came with take the Paracord off the handle and put it to use on the sheath to make it stronger and customize your own handle for 20 bucks this baby is all that
Sep 24, 2016

Very happy with my purchase - this sword is very well made and is well worth the $20. Its solid and sharp, definitely not just a display piece! You won't be disappointed!
Sep 21, 2016

This blade is very thick surprised me it also came sharper than i imagined. The edge holds up well, the sheath works and come on people its not meant to be $1000 dollar quality but it beats anything else you can pick up for even $20 more.
Sep 01, 2016

Jul 04, 2016

The paracord handel did come off but that's okay because you can use the Paracord for something else and what I did for a new handle was wrap Sports tape around it
Jun 29, 2016

May 04, 2016

Feb 19, 2016

for the price you cant go wrong. its a medium sized blade perfect for small places. being stainless (soft metal) I wouldn't go hacking at trees. the strap can be wrapped around the scabbard for a really cool tactical look.
Jan 16, 2016

Awsome little sword, well made nice handle wrap. Feels rugged looks and cuts great and the scabbard is excellent... Its easily well worth $20 and then some...!
Nov 02, 2015

This is a great sword. It can cut through almost anything!!!! I have cut up pumpkins, lemons, and even branches off trees. This is the best sword I have bought. I suggest you buy this sword immideitly.
Sep 15, 2015

Especially for the price! The nylon handle comes off pretty quick, but electrical tape makes for a way better grip.
Aug 02, 2015

i bought mine about three or four years ago, and its still going strong. the cord on the handle came off the first day, but thats ok. i just put about a half a roll of duct tape on it. i live in the mountains and do alot of hiking, it goes with me everywhere!!! it has come in handy more times than i can count. i keep mine razor sharp and even had it engraved. it says "Please Forgive Me For What I About To Do". well worth the money. i th
May 08, 2015

I love the sword. It's like a wakizashi sword with a tanto style tip. But the thing feels as strong as a machete, which means I could potentially take down a tree with it. I also figured out how to wear it as a side weapon, worn on the left side, after some modification to scabbard. I love it so much!
Apr 27, 2015

Its not that bad of a sword, it came faster then it said it would be here. It is a little dull (but easy to sharpen), very sturdy, its very well balanced, and i really like the sheath. Great sword
Feb 01, 2015

This Sword is Amazing it has a amazing sheath i've bought a few other things from here and this is definitely my favorite im super happy
Jan 22, 2015

I freaking love this sword! IT has a strong blade that's capable of chopping wood (I'm not kidding) and is very sharp.
Dec 26, 2014

Pros: -Razor Sharp from the box -Beautiful Black finish -Full Tang, sure to last a long time -Well wrapped Nylon Cord -Strong Pommel, good for hitting Cons: -Plastic, easily Chipped sheath -Sheath Supposed to fit onto back, but is really hard to get on and off
Dec 11, 2014

The ninja, the real ninja, did not use fancy swords. They were outlaws and country folk, and they needed swords they could beat the hell out of and throw away if necessary. This is that sword. It is not pretty, but unlike more expensive swords you won't be afraid to put it through it's paces and using it for whatever you want. Ninja tree trimming, ninja box opening, ninja champagne bottle opening.
Nov 30, 2014

Great sword. I wish it was offered in a twin set with a decent hard double back scabbard. The nylon thing is a joke. Forget about returning the swords to that after use(which I would think would be part of it)... I've found out that be using a heavy duty electrical shrink on the handle and roughing it up a little with some 36 grit sandpaper greatly improves the balance and manuverability....a great purchase for sure...C'mon trueswords....There ARE those of us out there that are capable of using 2 swords in unison, and looking for a good shinobi back strapped hard scabbard set... Can ya help us out?
Nov 25, 2014

I love this sword it was a little short but its gets the job done its one of the best products i have bought get it you wont regret it.
Nov 20, 2014

Pretty awesome sword! The sword came exactly on the day it was estimated and for $20 bucks + shipping n handling, this was a GREAT buy. I have no regrets and would recommend this to anyone if you're interested in this sword.
Oct 04, 2014

Wow, I got this sword a few months ago and it has only impressed me. This sword is very thick and durable, I've swung it at trees with all my might and it stuck in that tree about 3 quarters of an inch. My only complaint is the paint, it scratched of at the tip and near the center of the blade, I also don't like the paracord handle but hey what can do you expect from a 20 dollar sword. If I had the money I'd buy 45 of them. If you are reading this and thinking that this sword is delicate or display only, you are wrong, this thing is unstoppable and unbendable (Well if you use it appropriately) Definitely one of the best swords on this site, I think they could sell this for more than a hundred bucks! Thank you BudK!
Sep 03, 2014

Best ninja machete because its the only one with a kydex sheath. Otherwise its just a chunk of steel with nothing really spacial about other then it works and is very cool
Aug 12, 2014

This sword is amazingly good quality considering the price. I have pieces that cost 3x as much and aren't this sturdy! This is not a display item, this is a fully functional weapon that could do some serious damage in the hands of a master. It is well balanced, sturdy, and beautiful! The edge is a little blunt out of th ebox, but it takes an edge very quickly and holds one even after cutting through 1' thick branches with one stroke! You want this!
Jul 16, 2014

I love the sword but the grip may come lose so get a ligher and melt the top and bottom on bolt sides of the grip now this is my first sword it came kind of sharp the blade is as long as a17 1/4 " and i love it trust me im a kid
Jul 15, 2014

Very basic design yet so effective! Fun to train with and you can't go wrong with a full tang short sword. Well, you can I guess, but that's beside the point! Another one of my personal favorites among my vast collection of knives and swords. The sheath is great too, and the shoulder strap fits me perfectly. I am a slim man, and its not too big or anything. Plus, it can be adjusted of course. Very happy with it!
Jun 22, 2014

This is a wonderful piece. Has a good point and length, and the sheath is great for protection. The only down fall is that the wrapping on the handle was a little loose (Id take it of anyways to wrap it in leather) And the sheath doesn't lock very well with the sword. But hay, i can now pull it out with ease. Over all this is a fine sword and will cut through your enemy easily.
Jun 19, 2014

just got it and it is great! very thick very strong. it's a great buy and even better for the price! strong enough to break a brick without chipping. came razor sharp, also my new favourite sword.
Jun 18, 2014

This is a great sword in comparison to the cost. I went to a store in Bar Harbor, Maine, where they were trying to sell the exact same sword for $42!
Jun 13, 2014

I've had this sword for a year now and I've beaten the hell out of it. I've thrown it into trees, (Not recommended but totally works btw) hit it against metal, swung it improperly, taken down countless saplings and all I've had to do was sharpen it once and it still has a nice edge, and I bent the blade slighty one time. Now, I am 6 feet tall and weigh 180 pounds but I did pull ups with this thing until it bent back. (Which did take a while) It's a think blade and is very strong. Holds an edge nicely and is anything you could ask for in a sword. My only complain is that I don't like the handle so personally just untied, re-wrapped, and then used that "Shrink rubber" stuff around it for a better fit. I've bought 200$ swords that I would take this sword over. Well worth the money. I'd buy a second in a heartbeat. If this one would ever break that is...
Jun 06, 2014

In this corner, weighing in at 1.25 lbs and 27 inches overall ... blade is matt black and 4.7mm thick, feels weighty, mine came with a slight arch along the flat area which is really hard to correct due to the high spring rate of this steel. Edge is there but not sharp - BUDK this is exactly how these items should be delivered, for display purposes you do not want to cut yourself taking it out of the box or showing it off; a few passes with a wet-stone and youre in business. Sheath - excellent and perhaps the best part of the deal, the leather wanabe's I usually get with other knives are for the trash and nylon is not a proper sheathing material for a properly sharpened blade, so kudos for the solid feel and tight hold of the friction lock. I have even tried slinging it upside down and that works too. The handle wrap is definately an area you will want to customize once you get it but that is an easy upgrade. Pleanty of room for 2 full size hands on the grip and length is just right for close quarters, heavy enough to knock something out of someones hands and solid enough to take some abuse. Thank you for a real bargain here BUDK !
May 29, 2014

The sword is excellent. No complaints about it at all. However, the sheath broke where the strap goes in within 5 minutes of wearing it. But the nylon loop on the sheath takes the place of what broke, so all in all no harm done. Great sword. Relatively sharp and pointy as hell.
Apr 10, 2014

This is one of the best valued sword I have ever purchased. The price is super cheap and the sword itself is amazing quality. I am a very proud owner of this sword. The balance, feel, and over-all performance of this blade is outstanding. I have nothing but good things to say about this sword. Also, the scabbard is impressive, as it is not made of cheap nylon, but rather of a very hard and durable plastic. I love this product as a whole. THIS IS ONE OF BUDK'S BEST ITEMS!!!
Apr 08, 2014

Great Defensive Tool , for the value very well built, has a nice protective sheath, feels good in hand.
Mar 22, 2014

When this sword arrived at my house the blade was in the mid-range of being sharp and dull I would suggest that you sharpen the blade a bit more before using it. Now it's very hard to see it in the images provide above but the blade isn't a straight blade, it's curved but it's hard to tell at first. The blade is nice and thick as they said witch is very good. The nylon cord wrapped handle wasn't lose and very snug. The sword has a nice weight to, it's not too light not too heavy it's just right in my opinion. And lastly the "Impact resistant ABS scabbard with nylon belt loop & shoulder strap" you either love it or hate it I don't think I'll ever be a fan of it. All'n all I say this item is well worth your money.
Mar 01, 2014

Jan 24, 2014

The blade is thicker than my best machete. The blade needs to be sharper-not really an issue. The 550 corded handle is tight, unlike other reviews. The sword holds tight in the sheath and the plastic sheath is much better than a nylon one. My only complaint is that the blade could be a little longer. Other than that-I will probably buy another one and I will definitely recommend it to all my friends. This sword is a great buy for the money! Thanks Budk!
Jan 22, 2014

This was a GREAT sword. It came RAZOR SHARP, and exactly what i thought it would be. Love the blade but I didn't like the sheath. I wish the straps were already put. I can't figure out how to put the straps on to use it correctly.
Jan 07, 2014

this sword is a great buy i gave it five stars because it is simply a great buy you cant beat it for 20 bucks. Budk's shipping is great too 4 days before i bought this i ordered a knife from walmart and the sword from budk arrived b4 the knife eben though it was ordered 4 days after the knife. Great sword great store buy nowwwww
Dec 24, 2013

The sword is a great deal for the price in need sharpening. no bend and the sheath will start to come apart after a while but nothing a few rivets cant fix.
Dec 18, 2013

Real nice sword; strong, sturdy, sharp out of the box but can be sharpened a bit more, nice tight handle (must be luck of the draw) giving a nice grip, with a super balance and feel!!! *****
Dec 17, 2013

Nov 17, 2013

this is the best sword i have ever used... ever it is incredibly strong (i have cut down hundreds of small tree with this and it has not even bent it is amazing and in my opinion worth at least 50 dollars... amazing sword get it.
Nov 14, 2013

This sword exceeded all of my expectations. Great balance, strong blade, versatile sheath. This is now a integral part of my bug out kit.
Nov 09, 2013

Beautiful blade that came sharp out of the box, absolutely love this thing demolishes pretty much everything!
Oct 28, 2013

I received this sword yesterday (one day before it went on sale, unfortunately) and I must say that this was a great buy. The blade came sharp and clean, and the wrapping was nice and secure. The sheath is very sturdy except for about an inch or so at the open end that isn't secured in order to accommodate the blade to lock it in place so it won't fall out of the sheath. The back strap slides around a bit but I probably won't be using that anyway with the belt loop on the sheath. 5/5 stars for this piece.!
Oct 16, 2013

This sword is fantastic! It arrived on time (four days) and opening it was like that first present on Christmas. Full tang (new sword buyers the term means the blade extends from the blade to the handle with the same steel, in other words swinging it won't break it off the handle), non-glare black finish, sharp enough to cut but not shaving sharp (easy fix), cord handle tightly wrapped, and a very durable sturdy sheath able to be worn on your hip, thigh, or back. Love this sword, this sword could easily go for 50$ but BudK has it for 20$. Booyah!
Sep 29, 2013

Bought another one of these to replace one that got stolen, WELL WORTH THE $. If you are disappointed in this blade, you should stop buying blades. It's one of my favorite swords of all time.
Sep 13, 2013

Cannot go wrong for twenty dollars. Like the sheath - should last better than nylon. Blade is heavy, one solid piece of black stainless nearly quarter inch thick, decent edge. IMHO, excellent value.
Aug 28, 2013

Great product from the Timber Wolf Company. The blade thickness is nearly 3/16" and is reasonably sharp. In addition, the sheath appears to be very durable and can be worn either across the shoulder or on the side of the leg.
Aug 08, 2013

This is Amazing! Its thick straight and tough. Mine didn't come that sharp but just a little time of sharpening I was able to cut done a tree!
Jul 25, 2013

Just perfect, everything I was hoping it would be! Solid, thick blade, good feel of balance and power. Just wish the sheathing was left/right universal. I feel I ripped off the company getting it this cheap! Thanks a million BudK!
Jul 03, 2013

Everything was good performance. Came in 3 days and was sharp straight out of the box. The cord wrapped handle is a little loose but is not a problem. The sheath is good quality and fits perfect. Very thick but not too heavy. Good length (perfect for killing zombies)and overall worth the money. Thanks BudK!
May 31, 2013

This sword is awesome. Probably the best quality for the lowest price I've seen on BudK. The next cheapest high quality would be a damascus blade. This thing is thin, but sturdy as crap. Sharp enough when you get it, but easily sharpens more. The sheath might as well be as strong as the sword itself. Simply awesome.
May 11, 2013

May 08, 2013

have this an the 2 of the united versions would love to see a two handed long sword based on design
May 04, 2013

very nice sword! have to say i was not only happy with the sword but, the customer service was fantastic!vat buy, very great buy i will buy again.
Apr 11, 2013

Absolutely awesome sword. I wrapped the handle in a different cord because the normal one started to slip. However I have sliced a lot of stuff and the bladed stayed nice and sharp. Great sword, and i highly recommend it!
Mar 31, 2013

the sleek black simple design looks awesome.<br />sturdy and good weight. the perfect sword to start with.<br />the straps are a little hard to pull, but it's not a problem.
Mar 31, 2013

have to say I am truly impressed with this sword. Perfect size for a short sword, weighted pretty evenly and came sharp. I suggest buying the accu sharp and re sharpening it yourself as I did, but all in all perfection. Just wish they would make an option on here to pick which side you would like to draw your sword from (which hand do you use)
Mar 26, 2013

Consumers of trueswords, I am impressed. for the price, this is a formidible peice of steel. the blade is sharp and straight, clean, not a scratch on it. the tactical hard case is a very nice touch, but the straps can be a bit confusing due to the fact that you have to run them yourself so heads up. the handle is wrapped beautifully well, and it's quite a bit more heavy than what I expected. over all, dispite the straps, 5 stars.
Mar 14, 2013

Best sword ever! mine just arrived today, sharpest thing ever. the sheath straps were a little difficult but hey this is my first sword. this is my first product from budK and I am very impressed I plan on buying tons more from this website.
Mar 11, 2013

Great short sword at a great price. Very durable. Came sharp, but could use a good sharpening to your liking. Tested on various items ranging from a few inches in diameter tree branches, to apples thrown in the air at me, to a full 2 liter coke bottle. When sharpened, it easily cut through all items with a good strong swing. The sheath leaves some to be desired, but that's a minor quibble. Loved the item enough to buy my brother one. To sum up: very durable, light, and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. A cool sword indeed.
Mar 09, 2013

Nothing to fancy about this sword but its simplisaty is what makes this sword great for beginner sword enthusiasts. Thanks for giving me my first sword trueswords!
Jan 18, 2013

Its the first real sword ive owned and its great. It took a week for shipping but thats ok. It look great. Feels fantastic. Its compact design makes it believable that a ninja would actually use this for stealth and assassinations. The staps are confusing so I gave up on those. And I re wraped the handle in black paracord because the original cord slipped off. Overall a fantastic buy. And I'd buy it again. Thinking about it I probably will when this one is banged up to much
Jan 08, 2013

absolutely fantastic. for a little over twenty bucks, you have a real wakazashi. a real tanto tip unlike the rediculous rounded tip, it is almost on par with a traditional katana. the only downside to this weapon is the grip cord on the tang. the cord unravels soon after handling with of any amount. but a great buy.
Dec 11, 2012

Thanks to a previous reviewer who mentioned this sword's thickness, I ordered it, and I'm very pleased with it. Sometimes these long swords can be a little "wavy", but not this one. It's solid and straight. Very good purchase!
Nov 26, 2012

Very reliable and sturdy. Came sharp and quickly. The hard body sheath is nice to have and the straps do a good job. Cord handle was loose, but easy fix. High quality sword; would buy again.
Nov 13, 2012

Nov 09, 2012

The blade of this tanto is more than twice as thick as the BK1570 Chopper Sword. It came super sharp and in perfect condition so I bought another one. Every Timber Wolf product I own is great quality.

Awesome sword its toughness is unbelievable if you wanted to you could use it as a hatchet if it came down to it i love this sword the down side is the length it is a little bit small but that might explain how tough it is I Recommend THIS SWORD TO EVERY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sep 21, 2012

Performance of the blade is at its best. After testing it over and over. It has never dull on me. Weight is light, durability is great, handling is awesome. Even in harsh weather conditions. I'm planning on getting more for sure and turn my place into the village from 13 assasins

Aug 29, 2012

First of all the shipping was incredibly fast, then when I opened it, I was amazed!. I thought it'd be heavier but to my fantastic surprise it was pretty light and looks very durable. The cord is wrapped nice and tight and feels amazing. This isn't my first buy from TS. but it's already on my top. THis is a must for all those who loved the MGS4 Raiden, or just want a VERY nice ninja sword. I can't say enough good about it!
Aug 11, 2012

My favorite of the collection, its blade is heavy and durable, the sheath is a hard plastic and one of few hard sheaths in the short sword industry. Blade was sharp and well made, and fits perfectly into the sheath. The strap is strong and has a customizable length.

Jul 13, 2012

This was the first sword I have ever purchased and I was very impressed, I have had no problems so far and as much as I've tested it, the blade remains razor sharp. The sword is light, comfortable in my hands and not easily damaged, this is byfar the best blade I have ever bought.

Jun 22, 2012

its a great sword for a great price. easily sharpened and it isn't to heavy. proud to say I've cut my self(on accident ) many times now. the only problem i have is that the strap(s) aren't great and there were a few minor imperfections with the black finish on the blade.
Apr 02, 2012

Awesome. just a solid piece of steel with a good wrapping. simple. looks great. sheath is nice. good little beater sword or machete. all around amazing for the price. 5/5
Mar 08, 2012

I just got it in and...well, actually, I just got back from the emergency room. 3 stitches in my right index finger. The sheath REALLY, needs a small strap to keep the blade from sliding out. Other than that, the tanto is amazing. I'm still in love with it, although it nearly took my finger off. But, it would be nice to have that one safety precaution on the sheath.
Mar 06, 2012

This sword is awesome. Fast shipping. I ordered it Friday morning and got it Tuesday. It didn't come that sharp but it was fairly easy to sharpen. Came with some oil on the actual edge of it but I just wiped that off and rubbed some of my gun oil on it so now its nice and shiny. Its got some weight and it's not that long so you can whip it around fast and powerful. The sheath is hard so it's easy to put it in there. Hilt is perfect size for getting a good grip but you should just take off the cord wrap and wrap it up in a few layers of black electrical tape. The price isn't bad either. If you want a good sword for a great price, buy this sword now. Hahaha, now I'm ready for the zombie and/or terrorist invasion.
Feb 13, 2012

This sword is absolutely wonderful and the price definitely cant be beat. I've had mine for 4 months now. Thanks budk for the strong sleek ninjato. 5 stars it's my favorite of my collection from budk. I'll definitely be looking to use it in the apocalypse.
Jan 23, 2012

I was absolutely pleased with my purchase for such a low price, this is a great sword. I suggest you use the strap holster on your leg because if your a big guy it doesn't fit over your shoulder, & the nylon strap handle is on but it does get loosened so when you get it put some adhesive glue on it, works great.
Dec 31, 2011

This sword is the coolest yet that i bought from Trueswords, The blade it sick looking with the black frosted steel. The scabbard had straps that where insanely complicated that took me about a half an hour before i realized what i was doing and even now i have no idea if what i did was right. The blade comes fairly sharp and is easy to sharpen and can easily cleave a sizable branch off of a tree, the quality of the blade is very good, it is weighted correctly and is very comfortable to swing. The nylon wrapping on the hilt can move around a bit but its nothing too significant and you can easily glue it down or modify it if it bothers you.<br /><br />I got this sword with the Israeli Gas Mask and together they make you one badass MTFer. I got this for myself two days after christmas and it shipped to me two days later which is awesome shipping time saying it usually takes around 5 days for me to get my packages for TS. All in all this sword was a great buy and it wont be my last. ;D
Sep 27, 2011

I wrote a review on this sword almost a year ago but it never showed up but, oh well its an amazing ninjato I love the sheath the more you hold the sword the more you like it. My only complaint is the buckles that go on your waist and leg are not very sturdy and if you wear it on for a long time it starts to slip off but, still perfect full tang sword. Thanks BUDK.
Sep 19, 2011

This sword strongly resembles Jacks sword (raiden) in metal gear 4, which is pretty sick. And for the price this sword is such a steal!
Sep 11, 2011

Its an awesome set up. My only complaint is the catch that holds the blade in doesn't keep it in firmly so it jiggles around & slides out if held upside down & jiggled a little bit. But the blade its well balances sharp & well worth the money.
Aug 10, 2011

This is a great sword for a good price too. The hard plastic sheath is a nice addition as well. This sword also came fairly sharp and was easy to sharpen quickly. Only two problems, the handle is a little lose (which i fixed with hot glue), and that the shoulder straps are kind of a pain to configure, i ended up using one like a belt and the other around my leg, Otherwise this sword is great and i would give it a 5/5
Jun 09, 2011

This sword is fantastic! Although it is dirt cheap, it is sharp right out of the box (and can easily become insanely razor sharp in a few minutes with a sharpener). The cord wrap is not that bad and seems like it will stay on and that is all anyone needs to have fun with a sword. Overall, it is amazing, fully functional, and won't let you down.
May 27, 2011

Got the sword yesterday. Its got nice weight and came decently sharp, the handle does slip around a little bit, but for a $22 sword you can't go wrong
May 04, 2011

This thing is awesome. Much heavier than I expected to be honest, and the blade is pretty thick. But its still easy to swing, and came sharp. Very durable blade with some decent straps, and the sheath is freakin cool. Another great buy, you won't regret getting this.<br />Thanks TrueSwords!
Apr 07, 2011

Over all it is a bit short but the sword is very durable. The sheath is a hard thick plastic construction and it has holes in it along the side if you want to hang it up on a plaque. The handle braiding is a bit loose but over all very good buy for $22. Mind you I had to pay $10 for shipping.
Mar 19, 2011

Great item, very fast shipping. Straps didn't work to well tried to put them on and just cracked the plastic on the back. Other than that its great weight and a very nice item. I have on display above my bedroom door and everyone that sees it loves it.
Jan 07, 2011

Nice sword. Sharp edge. Good handle. Working adjustable scabbard. One of the better quality ones for the price. 5 stars
Jan 03, 2011

Nov 12, 2010

Nothing bad here, read the other reviews for more info., solid piece of steel, shorter, but I prefer it that way.
Oct 30, 2010

Very good sword! The sword itself is about arm's length, (I am 6 feet, 2 Inches. The sword is 27 Inches including both the grip and the blade.) And has a nice matte black finish to it. The very edge of the blade, where it is sharp, has a nice silver look to it. <br /><br /> The Grip on the sword is very nice, I received it to be very tight, and it feels very secure. The blade seems durable so far, and I feel safe to train with it.<br /><br /> The sheath for the sword is also pretty well made. It is made of a very high quality ABS Plastic, which is supposedly 30 times more durable than regular plastic.<br /><br /> It seems the sheath is made up of two parts, held together by metal rings that are clamped down into the ABS plastic. As a result, the sheath is very light. With the sword in place, it still is light enough to carry around. Even lighter when you carry it on your back.<br /><br /> A small and unimportant deficiency on the sheath, the area where the sword is inserted, the very edges seem to separate. This is the result of the sheath being made by two separate pieces and being clamped together by metal rings. However, this does not affect the performance of the sheath, as I later discovered the hand guard on the sword needs a little extra space in the same area in order to sheath itself fully.<br /><br /><br /> I have read some other reviews on this sword, and discovered people are having trouble with setting up the back straps. I will tell you now that the back straps for this sword are perfectly fine. There are two separate straps that are included. <br /><br />On the back of the sheath, there are two platforms with + shaped design. In each direction, there is a slot. Insert the back strap with one strap (or the unadjustable one) in the slots parallel to the sword, if you want to mount it to your back. Do the same for the other Platform. Note that you must undo the male buckle in order to insert a strap into the platform. <br /> After doing so, you can connect the other strap to the previous one in order to finish the back strap system.<br /><br /><br />All in all, I found this sword to be very satisfactory. The parts aren't cheaply made, and I would definitely recommended this to a friend.
Oct 28, 2010

This is my first buy from T.S. (along with a couple other things) and have to say i'm very impressed. Though like some complaints have said; the straps it comes with are kind of tedious to configure. I suggest if you want to put on the straps, don't turn it into the leg strap, keep it a back strap, cause the sword, though light, i feel will still pull the whole thing down if it's on your leg. As for the sword itself, it's very sturdy, mine came kinda dull but a good sharpening will fix that, it's very good for the price, i'm actually thinking about getting another one. 5/5<br /><br />P.S. And please tell me i'm not the only one who thinks this looks like Raiden's sword from MGS4 which makes me wanna scream..... OH PLEASE SELL A REPLICA OF RAIDEN'S SWORD!! PLEASE!!
Oct 27, 2010

This blade, once I got it, was very nice. I look the look, and feel of the blade. Like a lot of people have said, the handle wrap comes undone rather easily. I took it off, rewrapped with the exact same pattern, just a lot tighter. After that, there was about a foot and a half of hanging cord. Also, the black finish comes off VERY easily. I stabbed it through the box it was shipped in, and the finish was already scratched. I personally like the look of a scratched finish. It makes it look used. Now on to the good stuff. The blade came sharp. Not very sharp, but sharp enough where you can simply run it across a stone a few times, and it's good to go. The stabbing tip, however, it EXTREMELY sharp. And, for being 440 Stainless (I think), it's surprisingly sturdy. I did a destructive test with it, and hit a 4x4 beam of wood 15 times. No bends in the blade, and no problems with it losing it edge too much. Overall, good blade, GREAT price, and a definite must buy.
Oct 15, 2010

Great great weapon, the only problem I have is figuring out the shoulder strap. They gave me two (what seems to be) random straps, but I think I might see if I can contact this site about it.
Oct 14, 2010

Customer support was awesome. All 3 items I bought shipped within 3 days. Anyways about the sword. blades pretty thick so it can take some damage. More of a short sword but it was bigger than I thought and shinobi normally dont carry huge swords anyway. The blades pretty sharp out of the box. id say anyone who wants a mini katana thats really balanced and lightweight just to play around with should definetely give this one a chance.
Sep 14, 2010

Aug 19, 2010

Great weapon, defiantly worth it's price. Only things that I have to say about it is that the cord handle does come lose after a little awhile but that's an easy fix. Also after taking it to the cardboard box it came in I noticed that the finish of the blade was already starting to come off, though i guess you can fix that with a bit of spray paint.<br /><br />Overall great weapon.
Jul 01, 2010

This sword seems to be a 100% clone of the United version, as well as various other versions and incarnations that have been kicking around for years. I used to own one of the United ninja swords superficially identical to this one, and I can find no difference in quality between them except the sheath for this sword is a bit better than the old models (it has a dent to keep the sword from falling out if jostled or held upside down) and the handle wrapping is far superior to my old blade. That said, the handle wrapping is only adequate (as opposed to my old United which was simply unusable) and if you plan to use your sword heavily you might want to re-wrap it with paracord, maybe with some wooden shims underneath. Construction wise this sword is excellent, being made of a single machine-cut piece of stainless steel that is quite durable. The factory edge angle is a little conservative, and if you have access to a "zip" sharpener or any skill with diamond stones you can bevel it back to 35 degrees
Jun 28, 2010

i love this sword its small good weight and draws quick not that sharp but its pointy after all it a ninja sword they are not supposed to be sharp cause there made for stabbing but u can sharpen it real sharp but it'll get dull after a few hours of using it but by far my most favorite sword i have so far
Jun 23, 2010

the sword came in and it great nice feel to it smaller then i thought but its a nicer length to it i like it alot wraped up hilt feels good <br /><br />only tiny issue is how i get the straps on other then that its great!
Jun 17, 2010

LOVE IT.... BUT the straps SUCKKK there are holes the side of the sheath that you could put cord and make your own.. i recommend this option if you can figure out the straps haha. the sword will come out of sheath if enough force is used, but is pretty locked in.. not disappointed in this buy. awesome sword.
Jun 13, 2010

Jun 12, 2010

i just got my sword it is great tight handle wrap fits me perfectly 5 stars worth every penny i mean it came the next day well you wont be dissapointed trust me
Jun 12, 2010

Was expecting it to be a big larger from the picture, but after cutting a few bottles (Heck, we even cut through some pretty think branches with it!) I'm VERY satisfied with the blade. Its not exceedingly sharp, but it'll get the job done. DEFINITELY WORTH THE BUY, AND EVERY PENNY IT COST. My only complaint was the wait time with the shipment, but overall, still satisfied with it!
Feb 27, 2010

I just got my sword in yesterday and I must say, I love it! The sword was a little heavier than I thought it would be, but its not heavy to the point where you can't wield it effectively. Mine came sharp enough to cut right through the boxes it was shipped in with ease. The only part that slightly annoyed me was the cord wrapping on the handle tends to slide up, but it doesn't come unraveled. All in all, for my first buy from Trueswords.com I'm very pleased and will definitely make another purchase from here.
Dec 29, 2009

Really great product. My 2nd buy from TS. It came unsharpened, but thats not a problem. Arrived in Pefect Condition.
Dec 27, 2009

I just love it it came very quick and it is extremely sharp great for people who like stainless steel.
Dec 23, 2009

Nov 30, 2009

This sword is AWESOME. It came razor sharp and with no imperfections on the steel. Although I did not experience this extremely fast shipping that everyone was talking about, took about a week and a half but it was definitely worth the wait. The nylon on the handle feels a bit loose but some epoxy or something should remedy that. All in all a great experience for my first buy.
Nov 25, 2009

I bought this sword as a christmas gift for my brother. I just got it today, and I am jealous! I love how it looks and feels when you swing it.<br />I am so glad I got this for my brother, he will be very pleased with it!
Aug 25, 2009

Like others have said, the grip does slide a little when you swing this, but that can be easily fixed with a sliver of metal or wood.<br /><br />The straps were very simple and easy to attach to the sheath, so I'm not sure what everyone was talking about when they said the straps were difficult to work with.<br /><br />The blade itself is very sharp, but not strong enough to cut through a box. It will pierce cardboard with minimal effort, though.<br /><br />This is an excellent addition for any collector, especially with the price in mind. The black steel is very handsome, and the blade itself is functional at the least. You'll definitely get more than you paid for with this sword.
Aug 23, 2009

This truly is a great sword for its price and find it exceptionally well made. It came sharp and had a really nice scabbard to go with it. Also two straps were included which i didn't expect but glad to receive them. The handle was well wrapped. Most of all the weight and thickness made this a one handed sword well done.
Aug 14, 2009

A pretty good collection sword. Actually exceeded my expectations, as it was heavier and thicker than I thought it would be. The cord wrapping is solid so far, and upon arrival, the blade is acceptably sharp, but not razor-sharp (get an Accusharp). The scabbard is really nice, and comes with two straps. These can be used to sreap the weapon to your back, side, or wherever you really want it, and this was also unexpected. But all and all, I am highly satisfied with it. :)
Aug 07, 2009

Very high quality blade for it's price, and the sheath is just as good. Didn't find much use for the straps, but the sheath and blade alone are well worth the price, so the straps are pretty much a nice bonus.<br /><br />I like the thickness to the blade, and it is one of my sturdiest swords in my collection, and that's saying alot!<br />The thickness also gives it that extra power, so if you get it sharpened, it starts getting pretty strong.<br /><br />The cord-wrapped handle did come loose, but I modified it to where it will never come loose. Came with a "false" edge, as other's mentioned, so it's semi-sharp. I was a bit surprised how short the blade length was, and wished the blade was a bit longer. (Maybe 24 1/2 inches?)<br /><br />But overall, this is a great sword, and aside from my complaints, it's actually one of my best swords, and is sturdy enough to take almost anything!<br /><br />I give it 5/5 for sturdiness, awesome sheath, and good functionality.
Jul 25, 2009

A very high quality sword, especially for the price. The stainless steel is very sturdy, and the edge is quite good for a stainless steel sword. The grip moves a little, but not enough to be annoying and it is quite comfortable to hold.<br /><br />The size of the sword is small enough to not make it unweildly and large enough to have a decent amount of force behind it. For size comparison, it's a bit shorter than my arm. Lightweight, well balanced, and overall a good make.<br /><br />The case is also quite sturdy, the hard plastic stands up just fine. The straps are quite customizable, which is nice, but the sizing of the straps is sort of odd. Both adjustable, but only one is long enough to be able to go around the waist.<br /><br />All in all, a very good buy for the price.
Jul 21, 2009

this sword is very sturdy. it is pretty sharp. the sheath is awsome it holds the sword in. the straps are scarab style. it is great for sword lovers. the straps are adjustableand comfortable.the box it comes in is great for practice.
Jul 10, 2009

Best stainless steel swords available. Very durable, and nice sheath. The perfect one handed sword. Stronger metal is the only think that could make this one better.
Jun 18, 2009

very nice sword the blade is thick and it came pretty sharp but could be a lot sharper but I'll take care of that
Jun 04, 2009

This sword is amazing! I expected the black color to be just a cheap color, but it isn't at all. Mine came well-sharpened, not razor, but just enough. I actually accidentaly put a hole in my wall... and the length is great- true to what an actual ninja would use- not some big fancy weapon that would ruin their stealth mission. The straps are pointless, but I just use one to wear around my waist. It's a solid piece of good metal, and the wrapping isn't loose at all. If you're thinking about buying it DO IT!
May 13, 2009

AMAZING!!!!!! The blade came sharp but i made it razor with the accusharp. there is no doubt that this is an amazing product. KEEP IT UP TRUESWORDS
May 08, 2009

I would like to begin this review by saying True Swords is the MOST amazing company I have ever dealt with. They have absolutely amazing customer service.<br /><br />Now on to the swords:<br /><br />I purchased two of these. The swords themselves are of amazingly great quality. The perfect thickness and length. They come sharper than most swords I've ordered and sharpen up very nice with a good stone. The handle is very comfortable and they are very sturdy. They do not bend at all. <br /><br />The sheaths are a different story. When I opened the box, every single "buckle" was broken. This was very unfortunate but all I did was go to Wal-Mart and buy new ones and hand sew them back together. No worries. <br /><br />The sheath is made of a hard plastic. It is very good quality itself but one of them were broken when it came. Just the top part though and it wasn't broken off. It just had a hairline fracture. I got some Super Glue Gel and fixed it right up.<br /><br />I wear them in an X across my back because I bought two of them and I absolutely love them.<br /><br />Thanks TS!
May 07, 2009

Extremely well-made and sturdy. It is very balanced and has a nice weight to it. It's virtually impossible to break, and has a very sleek look to it. One of the best swords you'll get for the price.
Feb 21, 2009

This is the second best sword i have bought. the sheath is nothing like the others it actually holds the blade secure. the straps it came with i couldnt find much use for. pretty sharp nothin to great. solid piece of metal. Great Buy!
Feb 03, 2009

THIS SWORD IS AWSOME...if ur a MGS fan(metal gear solid), this is almost identical to the sword raiden uses, though a lil shorter but still very good. due to one peace of steel, it makes it mutch sturdier and durable. this was the best 22 bucks ive ever spent on a sword.
Dec 31, 2008

Amazing quality for 22 bucks, everyone needs one of these.<br /><br />PROS:<br />-one piece of steel, impossible to break<br />-mine came razor sharp<br />-comes with back straps<br />-sword snaps firmly into sheath<br /><br />CONS:<br />-cord slides off the handle sometimes, easily fixable<br />-doesn't come with any instructions on how to do the straps.<br /><br />Even though it does not come with any instructions, the back straps are easy to figure out.
Dec 03, 2008

Good Deal for those who want a battle ready sword and are afraid of beating it up, for almost $22 this sword is sturdy, looks like it can take a beating, and nice and light in the hand, long enough to boast a fairly good reach, while still having the center of gravity near teh wrist so as to allow fast thrusts and slashes. And if you damage it all you need is another $22 and your good, but whats more is that it is stylish enough that you may want to keep a spare for display, as it just has the ninja feel to it. Put all that together with a strap on sheeth, and you got one hell of a sword!
Dec 02, 2008

Nov 18, 2008

although not a large sword like a traditional ninja sword (though i didn't care about that), this tech sword is excellent. it's light and nimble, the balance throughout it's length is perfect; one can perform very acute maneuvers, turns and rapid dashes, with ease. it's definitely a close combat, stealth-type weapon. i dig it!
Oct 06, 2008

Very few weapons can match the speed and power of a katana, fewer still can match a well built ninjitsu katana. Made to dominate in close quarters this example of a ninja's straight blade katana sword is easily weilded, heavy bladed for added power to every swing, near perfect balance in the overall sword build, and easy to maintain. This is without a doubt one the best tech style ninja swords on the market.
Sep 24, 2008

loved it! very sharp, and love how it can be a back strap as well. no real problems, arrived VERY fast as well.
Aug 23, 2008

Has a nice weight to it. Good for quick slashes and rapid change of direction when slashing. As most of my other items, it did not come sharpened (only pointy). Very solid and thick piece of steel (it is actually thicker than my 52in Zangetsu).
Aug 01, 2008

I bought this sword probly about a year or less ago and i still have it...i left it on the dragon stand i bought originally but i figured i may as well put it to some 'better' use<br />i took a grinder to it sharpened it razor sharp like my dad showed me how to...<br />well it's been the best lawn tool i've ever had :)<br />never bends i doubt it will ever brake<br />still keeps it's sharp edge<br />i've only sharpened it once and it still holds it's own against palm trees<br />pine trees<br />OAK trees<br />and i've left it out in the florida rain more than enough times and it hasn't got a spot of rust yet... THANKS GUYS!!!
Jul 31, 2008

The sword arrived today while I was at work. It looks and feels awesome. The blade even has that new sword smell. The edge is sharp. A great buy. I recommend it to others.
Jul 07, 2008

This sword is amazing, it wasn't as sharp as i expected but that was easily fixed. Now it cuts Liter soda bottles and Gallon milk cartons with ease. The only downside is that the nylon cord likes to slip down off the bottom every once and a while but thats no big deal. 5/5 for price and fun.
Jun 22, 2008

This sword is the first i have perchased on TRUE SOWRDS, and i am very satisfied. This sword is the perfect buy for anyone looking for a light, easy to handle sword. This would be an ideal gift for anyone who enjoys swords. 5 stars
Jun 12, 2008

Jun 07, 2008

WOW! this is an amazing blade and i got what i had paid for! this review came a day late because i was playing with my sword all day :)
Feb 07, 2008

This is a very great weapon. very sharp, the handle cords seem very sturdy and dont shift. the only complaint is the "fat" part of the blade. overall, 5/5.
Feb 01, 2008

This a beautifully crafted and most likely functional (haven't been out on a killing spree) but absolutely worth the price.
Jan 23, 2008

I just got the sword and i like it, it needs to be sharpened a little bit but overall it is a good blade. The thing that i am having trouble with it is the shoulder straps but this is a good buy.
Jan 03, 2008

Very Sharp, Not quite as long as I imagined. Interesting strap system, and no instructions. You can do vertical or horizontal straps for back, leg, or waist strapping. I bought two. Very comfortable scabbard, I cross the two swords behind my shoulders. A must buy for any real missions.
Nov 22, 2007

Just got this sword today and I cannot put this damn thing down! even though the blade is not sharp, it does not take much to get it to the deadly level. The sheath is awesome! although the straps are a pain to figure out but once you figure it out its awesome. Once the blade is in the sheath it make no rattle unlike most swords I have boughten. Therefore I give it a 5...................... out of 5
Nov 08, 2007

If you are looking for a great sword for not much of a price at all, then this is definetly the sword for you. Great quality for it's price. Light and powerful. Beautiful black finish. MAKES YOU WANT to take good care of it due to it's beautiful sturdy look. It's plastic case is pretty strong. Smaller than what you expect yet an awesome weapon in it's own. A must have. VERY worth it's5 stars.
Oct 05, 2007

For the price, this is a great sword to get. It is very sharp and would be a very effective and easy to use weapon.
Sep 22, 2007

Ordered Wednesday (Tuesday night) and just got it today, Saturday. The box it came in was banged up, severely in fact. Luckily the blade was unharmed.<br />It's a very nice blade, with a nice black finish. It's smaller than I thought, though.<br />This is my first buy from true swords and actually the first time I buy a sword. Very satisfied with the sword, and for twenty dollars, it's a darn good deal. The tip is extremely sharp, but the rest of the blade is not as sharp as others say. I've actually tapped my hand with the edge and no cuts, though I'm sure if I were to swing at something, the sword would definitely do some damage.<br /><br />Overall, an excellent buy. Thanks True Swords!

Aug 14, 2007

This is an Excellent Weapon!!!! Well Balanced, Easy to handle, great construction! I'm ordering more!
Jul 09, 2007

A little shorter than expected but it doesnt matter. One is amazing, but duel wielding is evem better. I got one from my friend who also had one... then we both bought another one each and now we are both duel wielding these swords. If you have one, buy another!
Jun 29, 2007

This sword is perfect. Exactly what I wanted, one piece of steel, strong, sharp and quick. This blade has a solid feel that gives confidence to it's performance, and quick enough to be deadly. I love one piece blades, and this one does not disappoint. I've had my eye on this one for a while, and I'm so glad I finally got it. I want that Spartan sword next!!

the sword is great i just got it in the mail today, it's sharp easy to wield and the cording gives it a good grip, the only flaw was the buckles, i found that they dont hold very well, but overall im happy with this purchase.<br /><br />This site RULES!!!
Jun 14, 2007

I've been to flee markets before that sold swords that were priced around $20. These pieces of crap seemed to be made of the lowest quality material available and most of the parts (hilt, guard, and such) were actually glued together! So, of course, i was a little leery about making this purchase, but after receiving this sword (which took only a couple of days), i have absolutey no regrets! It feels great to hold a solid, sleek piece of quality steel with a nice grip. The edge is pretty sharp, but could use some work. The sheath looks very nice (considering it's made from plastic), but it is a little noisy when the blade goes in and out of it, which isn't very practical if you want to be stealthy. The straps aren't too bad either. They can be positioned in a variety of ways by sliding them through the two criss-crossing slots located on the back of the sheath, which provides a variety of possibilities for carrying the weapon. It can be strapped to one of your thighs, around your waist, on your back, and even over your shoulder, which is how I prefer to wear mine. Overall, the quality of this sword is excellent for $22, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a battle-ready weapon at a flee market price.
May 03, 2007

The blade is a bit smaller than i would have liked but the blade itself is wonderful. You cant go wrong.
May 02, 2007

awsome this is probly the best word i have its 22" o is about the sise of youre leg the sheath is good and is come with a strap for youre waist and leg or just youre overthe back shoulder strap buy it if u have 22 bucks!!
Dec 19, 2006

Looks great and feels good too! It comes with what is called a "false edge" which can cut (so be careful folks!) but is by no means a "live edge". The edge would have to be profiled differently to have the "live edge" effect. I took the liberty of doing this and now have many excuses to "use" the lemons in the backyard. The plastic sheath is really neat and secure. In short, way too much fun for such a low price!
Dec 07, 2006

Very sharp. Very sleek and sharp...did i say sharp? Havent tryed cuttin anything yet, but i did just get 5 minutes ago. Very happy indeed.
Oct 31, 2006

all i have to say is that this is one of the best swords i have. it is sharp enough to cut through many many things! :D
Jul 22, 2006

this full tang ninja sword is probably the best sword i have ever aquired. it is sharp and easy to handle, it is a study sword and i reccomend it to all. it can slice through metal wire and even large bamboo, or just about anything. so buy this sword
May 10, 2019

Decent edge out of box I recommend further sharpening but overall Sharp enough to get the job done it's also pretty well balanced could be better but nothing's perfect honestly if your looking for a good sword to take care of business it's the best bang for your buck and the scabbord is pretty nice and way tougher than I thought it would be

Jun 04, 2018

Great for the money! First off you gotta remove that paracord or else it'll do it for you while your using it and that ain't fun. Secondly, you gotta re-wrap it with something cause the shock from striking without, sucks.. Other than that, it's a great buy. I've had mine a couple months and it's held out through everything I've put it up against. I even throw mine and it does surprisingly well. So if your thinking about it, then do it. It is worth it.
Jun 08, 2017

This is a very durable nice sword! It's great for chopping wood like a badass while camping. It is a very wide sword making it very strong. The point is very good. The edge has no burrs although it is not sharp at all. Can't even chop through a soda bottle like my other swords. Although, with a little bit of sharpening, it can achieve great things. Definitely not my favorite sword and you won't survive a zombie apocalyse with it unsharpened. Great for rough outdoor use!
Jan 11, 2017

Pros: short enough to draw off the back. Thick sturdy metal for chopping. Sturdy plastic sheath. Multiple ways to attach to your body Description was accurate. Cons: rather short. Not razor sharp(has potential) Cheap cord wrap is loose/ uncomfortable $20 not bad, if it is ever bogo recommend grabbing a couple
Sep 21, 2016

fun little sword/machete to beat around with. The sheath is awesome, I just hope the sword doesn't break on me and stab me in the chest.
May 05, 2016

I'm pretty happy with buying this, the shipping came really early, as opposed to one of my other orders from this site, so that's a plus. The blade itself came sharp, however it might need a bit touching up, the handle however became unwrapped very fast, after about 4 or 5 swings it became hard to use because I would have to painfully grip it tight due to the handle wrapping sliding off. I fixed this however using some athletic tape. The sheath hasn't become broken like other people have said it has, and it can be easily adjusted. This is my first sword, and I have no regrets buying it.
Jan 20, 2015

Bought one for my brother as a Christmas present, his was perfect. Sharp, no damages. My wife bought me one for Christmas, but mine has some sort of glue or resin splashed onto the sheath (and it won't come off..) as well as some sort of machine-marks that run across the entire blade, seems to be a factory defect. I'm surprised anyone even thought it was good enough to be sent to a customer. I'm now reluctant to buy anything else from BudK. Also, there's no such thing as a blood groove. This is a very, very common, albeit very amateur mistake that most people make. Blood grooves in fact, do not exist. The groove is to make the blade sound more elegant when cutting through the air/aerodynamics. I was hesitant to buy swords from people who called it a blood groove to begin with. And Damascus steel doesn't exist anymore either, it's simply what they call the forge folding process, and you can only fold a blade between 7 and 16 layers before you actually weaken the blade. 1070 layers of Damascus Steel is a description I saw on more than few swords on this website. I had to laugh. Not only an in-correct statement, it's an out-right lie to sell products that anyone who knows anything about swords can see right through. It just makes you guys look really bad, just saying. Anyway, I'll give the product 3 stars, because one came great and one came all kinds of messed up. I can't give it a good rating if they're shipping me defective products on Christmas.
Dec 14, 2014

Bought 2 of these. My 22yro.son is going to like this. Nice and sharp right out of the box.
Jun 14, 2014

Trueswords.com is the best place to shop for melee weapons. This particular weapon is sharp light sturdy , very cool to own. 8/10
Apr 26, 2014

This is a very useful tool but it isnt perfect. The wrapping on the handle is very loose. Also the one I got was incredibly dull.
Apr 14, 2014

I just bought the Timber Wolf and have been experimenting with it. First thing is found out is I do NOT like the wrapping on the handle. This does NOT giver the secure grip you expect with this type of blade and the way you have to hold it to apply maximum force. I am going to re-wrap mine with either deer skin, or some other rough leather. Also, it would be better if the handle were an oval to begin with as '()' it is more natural to grip. The blade is plenty sharp and the stiffness is fine. I will be practicing with it to get the 'feel' of it's 'rhythm' during use. I would recommend this blade, but I would say the wrapping needs to be gone in favor of something more natural to grip.
Apr 06, 2014

A bought one of these swords for my go-bag as an all around cutting and defensive tool. I was so impressed with the feel, balance and quality of the blade, that I bought three more for the rest of the family. My one disappointment is the scabbard. While the overall construction is good, the top corner where the locking mechanism is, is separated; which doesn't allow the blade to remain locked securely. Not hard to fix, but I would expect not to have to fix issues on a newly received product.
Mar 01, 2014

Now this blade I am satisfied with. Nice and strong blade, comfy grip and pretty sharp. Not razor, but good enough! It's not too long but long enough to keep an assailant at bay, should it come to that. My ONLY complaint is the straps.... Not big boy friendly, which probably means I need to lose some weight before I become a zombie buffet!!!! But then again, I just might have a fighting chance with this formidable piece of zombie lopping steal!!! Def worth the $20!!!! Get it while the gettings good!!!
Jan 06, 2014

It came out of the box dull as ever, like every budk product, but it is amazing. Great quality, and durable wrapping on the handle. But hey, for 20$, its what you expect.
Nov 21, 2013

good things:<br />-it came sharp enough for my tasts<br />-the strape goes perfict on my back .. almost like it was ment for it ... O_O<br />-not too big, not too small, not too much in the middle LOL<br />-sheath is strong holding and not a rip.<br /><br />bad things:<br />cant strap on my leg .... well maybe its just my size ... BUT STILL!<br /><br />result 4/5
Sep 22, 2013

The sword comes somewhat sharp but i like every knife or sword of mine to be able to shave my face if needed so i had to sharpen it it was a little hard to sharpen but got it. the wrapping was loose but i rewaped it useing the same strin and some white string because just tightning it would make it so it would not cover the whole handle
Sep 19, 2013

I just got this sword today! Completely worth it. Very sharp out of the box and has amazing balance! My only complaint is that the rapping around the handle was loose. I took that off and re-rapped it with that same cord, just a little tighter this time. Overall great sword and I tottally worth the 20 dollars!
Aug 21, 2013

I like the sword, it is a stainless steel blade but its not all that bad and its easier to take care of. The blade was a little smaller than I expected, but you gwt used to it, and I can't complain.<br /><br />The nylon bit at the top of the scabbard though was head together by very cheap and loose rivets. I felt like I could rip it apart. But that's a small matter.
Aug 20, 2013

This is a good buy for the money. Pros Sturdy design Very comfortable Black finish lasts a while Holds an edge well Thick blade and handle Full tang Doesn't rust with proper oiling Blade doesn't dent or chip easily Good starting sword Sharpens well with practice Great unsheathing from hip or holding in off hand Cons Scabbard dulls the blade is kinda flimsy and doesn't secure sword well Buckles with scabbard break easy ($1 fix but annoying) Needs sharpening before use Paracord handle comes off with heavy use (cheap fix but still annoying) Difficult to sharpen if you aren't used to it Awkward to sheath and unsheathe from your back. Recommendations: Get a good sharpening stone Get some mineral oil, 3-in-1 oil, or sharpening oil Buy or make a leather scabbard Sharpen and oil regularly and there should be no problem
Aug 11, 2013

Almost everything about this sword is great. Wasn't too heavy, easy to use, very strong. The main downfall of this sword is that the handle came unstrung rather quickly and I don't know how to retie it. Otherwise, great stuff.
Jul 02, 2013

Was wicked sharp right out of the box and is light and well balanced. The only problem is with the case, mine is falling apart at the top. Otherwise it is a great sword.
Jun 02, 2013

Nov 24, 2012

The sword is Phenomenal! Very sharp and Good grip. Shorter than what i expected but Great Length to.
Nov 23, 2012

Theres nothing at all wrong with this sword per se, but, for me, its just a really great looking machete. At its price tho, it's an amazing machete! The wrap stays in place, easy to sharpen, and great at cutting through anything up to a thick vine/moderate tree branch. So for what its worth and what it costs i had to give it at least a 4...4 and 1/2 is more like it
Oct 18, 2012

Just got the sword today but lloking at it it looks beautiful nice sleak look havent tested the blade yet but it came pretty sharp though but it came with 2 strap things and idk what to do with them
Apr 14, 2012

its awesome the sword is perfect the only thing i didnt like was it didnt come with instructions on how to strap it
Feb 08, 2012

I had one of these a few years ago and I used it as a machete.I had to resharpen it about every month or so but it made a nice light weight machete that could easily slice through most any wood that's up to 5" diameter. Its not by any means capable of cutting through larger trees tho.
Sep 18, 2011

This sword was good for 20 dollars, but I can not figure out how to slide this sword over your back its not really possible WITHOUT DIRECTIONS THANKS BUDK !
Jul 02, 2011

All in all this is quite a nice sword. the only problems with it are the nylon cord wrapped handle comes a little loose when you swing it so you have to kinda keep an eye on it when you swing, and the straps to hold the sheath on your back is harder to do than it appears. other than that its GREAT!
Mar 23, 2011

this sword is the shi* the only crappy thing about this sword is the nylon cord wrapped handle. that cord moves around a lot. other then that, what i got is exactly what you see in the picture...i recommend this sword.
Mar 09, 2011

Good quality item, nice weight and feel in the handle. The sheath is very versatile for where it can be placed. The only thing is it needs so be sharpened.
Dec 24, 2010

I received this sword several days after purchasing it. As always, I immediately inspected the weapon, which I purchased as a home defense weapon, to be sure of quality. I am happy to say that it was packaged well, and in perfect condition.<br /><br />The only thing keeping me from giving it a perfect 5 star rating is the sheath. At the top of the sheath, the plastic did separate a little bit. However, it does not impede on my ability to use the sword, or place it back in the sheath. It is a snug fit, makes a beautiful clicking sound when put in the sheath, and is perfect for its purpose. The blade was a little dull when I received it, but that is not surprising. A few runs with a sharpener, and all is well. Slices right through paper, just as any blade should. Also, the sword is extremely light weight, as well as short, which makes it an excellent weapon for speed. As any katana enthusiast knows, a shorter sword, while taking some of your reach away, allows for far faster a swing. The light weight makes it easy to control. It is an excellent sword for any defensive purposes.<br /><br />This sword is definitely a good buy for somebody looking for something practical.
Mar 24, 2010

When I got the sword for Xmas from my friend Katie, it came in a long box. When I pulled it out, the blade was shiny w/ freshly coated oil. The nylon cord isnt that bad for grip, it's easy for me. Wish they would make more durable handles for most of these cheaper, but fantastic swords. It's decently sharp, completley dark and the blade is clean, angled right, and deadly. Definitely gonna buy more of these $20-30 full tang swords. They never fail. My only wish is the blade would be a tad bit longer, like 20-21' maybe
Jan 18, 2010

Not too shabby. When ordering I was under the impression it would come "Battle Ready". Well, they should change the description to "Stabbing Ready" since this blade come as sharp as a butter knife but the point of a razor! Tried to slice thru the shipping box and it just left a nice dent in the box...After a few passes with the wet stone I was able to slice down weeds with ease.<br /><br />The blade is shorter than I expected but is very handsome. The cord wrapping on the handle tends to come loose if you swing this baby around so be careful.<br /><br />All in all Im satisfied with it but have just ordered an Accusharp so I can hopefully give this new life.
Dec 28, 2009

This is my 2nd buy from True Swords and I have to say that True Swords hasn't let me down. The only issues I've had with this is that...<br />1. Rope handle unwinds itself through use. Can easily be retied, but I guess it's something to be expected. <br />2. Belt clip broke (though I really didn't plan on using it anyways).<br /><br />Good things about this sword...<br /><br />1. Sharp straight out of the box.<br />2. Sheath clicks the sword into place so it's not sliding out.<br />3. Very balanced and light weight.<br /><br />I'll probably just wrap something else around tis for the handle but still, amazing wakizashi sized blade, especially given the price.
Oct 26, 2009

WOW, i must say this was quite sharp! cut right through the boxes it came in in one swing, i was very impressed... a little shorter than what i thought it was gonna be but hey, its quite worth it! 4/5 cause i kinda dulled it within a few hours of getting it, but i put it through alot of abuse...
Feb 24, 2009

Just got it today, for $21.99 it is a good buy. I particularly like how the straps can be used to secure the scabbard to the leg. I am however, disappointed that it isn't longer. 27in is good for a one-handed sword but I would love to see this in at least 34in + and gladly would pay double for one. 4/5 because of the length.
Jan 04, 2009

All in all, its good. It needs to be sharper and the nylon cord that act as the grip, well to be blunt, sucks. They producers of this weapon need to pick a different fabric or something to act as a grip. Because of the crappy grip it makes it hard to hold and swing without getting worried that it's going to fly out of your hands. I recommend it, but be sure that you can get a good grip or find some gloves to wear when using it!
Jan 03, 2009

A very nice sword for the price. Took me a while to figure out the back straps but i got it. After i sharpened it, i wouldn't want to be on the receiving end.
Jan 15, 2008

Very good blade, pretty sharp (though I need to sharpen the tip). Awesome feel in your hands. The sheath is really cool, it hold the blade in place very well.<br /><br />As for the straps (which have been mentioned earlier): On the back of the sheath, there are 2 flat hollow + , that the straps can go through however you want them to. As for the straps themselves, one came 2' and the other 4.5' in length, and I couldn't do anything with them. Luckily, the same strap material is $0.49 per foot and better clips only $1.49 ea. So for $6, go make your own, improved straps.<br /><br />MUST HAVE BLADE!!!
Aug 24, 2007

This sword is great. Its light weight ,black blade and doesent cost much. I like the design of the sword its very simple is how you could say it i guess. I wasent too keep on the shieth for this sword though. It is cool but it just dident fit my tastes. It is a hard plastic i guess. With an area on the back to put the straps so you can wear it. The sword is cool but i didnet like the shieth much i give this a 4 only by personal preference.
Jun 03, 2007

smaller than i expected but worth the price.. the string around the handle is falling off but still well worth it
Mar 08, 2007

My only complaint about this sword is that for its weight, the grip is sub par. You cant get a grip like you can on the ninja set swords. Other than that, it requires some sharpening from the time you get it, but its got a great scabbard. Couldn't figure out the straps though.
Dec 29, 2006

I just got this sword tonight. I must say it is not what I expected. It is not as sharp as I would like it to be. But the steel is good quality, and the black finish is very nice and produces no light. Now I must go sharpen this a little more.<br /><br />Ill give it a 4.
Nov 25, 2016

With a little more sharpening, this sword could be decent. The paracord handle is loose and will move downward when you swing, I guess putting something at the end of the paracord it would keep it from sliding and keep the paracord firm.
Feb 20, 2015

My order came in a reasonable time, and the sword itself seems pretty sturdy, (though, not very sharp) however after assembling the straps in the hip orientation, walking around for 5 minutes, the scabbard's strap loop rips out of the plastic, leaving that section of the scabbard useless. While you can't expect much for the price, I will more than likely have to make my own scabbard for it to be usable.
Feb 12, 2015

This sword is thick great tanto tip the sheaths is good comes light sharp not razor sharp I had to rebevel the cutting edge to make it a razor sharp and the sword is bented overall its a good purchase.
Jan 14, 2015

This sword is Amazing, just one catch the blade is bent! CONS: loosely rapped handle, and bent! PROS: sharp, sturdy, and thick. The sword arrived bent slightly in sheath, also bending the sheath. This more or less compromised the sheath, (it doesn't hold in place and will fall out). Love the sword, but think I got a defect, bummer.
Jun 11, 2014

I had this sword for a couple of months and never used it. Then one day i decided to go out an hack at a couple of trees and it broke in half on me in the middle of the blade. I would recommend this for looks, but not very durable, even considering its thickness which was very nice as well. But thank you BudK
Jun 07, 2014

i got this sword for $20 i did not like the wrapping it was to loose i put some tape at the end till i can find a good thing to wrap it in the sheath broke after about a week it broke were the top where the belt goes in i used the belt loop the blade was really dull so if you want to by this sword take into consideration
Jul 17, 2013

Favorite part of this package was the sheath. Was durable, held the sword well, and could fasten to your body in multiple ways. The sword it self definitely had a solid build with a wide spine, but the balance felt awkward to me and "use" test on compressed cardboard revealed barely average slash or thrust-penetration ability. You could feel vibration upon impact and expect the cord wrapped hilt to come unwound after only a few hits. If you're tight on money and want a sword I guess this would work.
Nov 18, 2010

its a good hard sword i mean is there anything true swords makes that's bad the only thing is the wrapping on the came of after a while
Mar 02, 2013

This is great for a duel Short sword... even for a single short sword or bad a** machette, Timber Wolf has a nice thick blade, and this sword is no different... the only problem is that they do no offer a left handed sheith for someone who wanted to dual weild with matching sheiths.
May 07, 2015

Just got this item in today and very disappointed with this product but guess you get what you paid for. On the sheath the area where you put the straps through broke off so easily very cheap plastic was used and super thin. I will have to design new loop holes for the sheath or make a new one all together as its very cheap plastic. The handle wrap was very weak as well, so that must go and will have to make a new hand grip. Sword it self is not bad comes dull so be ready to have to sharpen it. I would not recommend this to anyone as its cheaply made parts will end up costing you more in the long run. Oh and secondly shipping is very strange this was shipped UPS then transferred to USPS to deliver to me wasted about a week of time by doing this plus seems to me that this would cost more to ship this way.
